The power struggle was mainly about Mao Zedong and how he had steeped down in his reign of ruling. Mao wanted to see the community rule it’s self. Mao had stepped down for about 5 years from ruling china. After those 5 years he wanted to rule china once again.
Mao had a little crew of people; some of the people were Lin Biao, Deng Xiaoping, Chen Boda, Kang Sheng, and wang Dongxing. All of these people had a part in the power struggle. The group and Mao had to convince the communist party leaders so Mao could have power over china again. Mao had eventually convinced the Communist party and had once again ruled china.
When Mao started ruling again it was during the Cultural Revolution. Mao had continued with the Cultural Revolution and a big breakout had happened. Red guards and rebelled groups began to fight. Mao then took charge and had replaced the red guards with radicals who supported Mao and the Cultural Revolution.
Liu Shaoqi who was the chairman of the people’s republic of china had been fired by Mao. Mao had then also treated him very poorly because Mao viewed him as a treat to his ruling. Liu had gotten sick and Mao wouldn't even give him medicine under his power and now Mao had had a “living target”.
Mao had ruled for several more years. Later Lin Biao had been apposed successor to Mao. Mao then began to talk to the U.S to form a relationship to counter the threat of the Soviet Union. Jiang Qing and other radicals oppose against Lin Biao of successor. In late 1971-mid 1973 Mao has a stroke then finds out he has cancer. Deng Xiaoping is then brought back to chin to organize the end of the Cultural Revolution. Mao Zedong dies in 1976 then Hua Guofeng was made Party Chairman but he did not end up ruling for long.
